Influenza (or "flu") is a contagious respiratory illness that can lead to symptoms such as body aches, sore throat, and nasal congestion. Other common signs and symptoms of the flu include:
Fever over 100.4 F (38 C)
Chills and sweats
Dry, persistent cough
Fatigue and weakness (Mayo Clinic)
Most people can treat their symptoms at home; however, people of certain age groups or with a compromised immune system may be at risk for developing complications and should see a doctor.
